A rare late 16th century cast iron Wealden fireback. The stamped rectangular patterns within a rope border are formed from butter and pastry moulds. Circa 1590. Restored. This fireback is illustrated in ‘British Cast-Iron Firebacks of the 16th to mid18th Centuries’ by Jeremy Hodgkinson p. 64.
