Nicholas is a specialist in antique chimneypieces, fireplaces, fire furniture, garden ornament and sculpture. 

After more than 50 years in the antique business he has gained considerable experience and knowledge particularly in the field of chimneypieces, the fireplace and its accessories, garden ornament and sculpture.

He specialises in sourcing marble, stone and carved wood antique fireplaces from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, concentrating on provenance and originality.

Additional Stock

Nicholas's varied and changing stock incorporates a fine collection of period fire furniture including grates, firetools, andirons and fenders.

He also holds a few select pieces of 18th and 19th century garden ornament and sculpture.

Originality and Provenance

Nicholas has a long standing reputation in the antiques business and frequently works with interior designers, private clients, museums and auction houses.

Premises

Nicholas started at the Furniture Cave in the Kings Road and then spent 20 years in the Pimlico Road.

More recently after two successful sales at Christie’s, he is now based at home.

Nicholas Gifford-Mead have a trade space in Chelsea, which can be viewed at any time by appointment only.
