A Rare And Very Attractive 19th Century Regency Period Copper And Brass Planter Of Demi Lune Form Having Pierced Decoration And Original Lions Mask Carrying Handles.

This unusual item dating to the Regency period is of excellent quality and exudes both elegance and charm. It's very clear that originally it must have been made for a household of great wealth, designed to be planted out with whatever was in season at the time, regularly being changed and therefore a symbol of sophistication and wealth.

Today in modern times it could be used for a variety of purposes of course, the most obvious of which being it's original purpose of planting out. One could also perhaps use it as a log basket, or for the storage of other items. It could even be fitted with some sort of cushion or blanket and used as a particularly extravagant antique 19th century dogs bed.

Please be aware that although it has been inspected and attended to in our workshops where it has received a good clean and polish, we cannot guarantee that it is still 100% watertight. It appears that it perhaps should be however and one could always have an additional liner made specifically if there were concerns around this.

Circa 1830.

Height - 6in.
Width - 32.5in.
