A Very Rare, Charming And Untouched Early 17th
Century Charles 1 Period English Oak Coffer Of Good
Bold Proportions Having Unusual Plank Lid With Original
Hinges, Lock And Key, Over Attractive Carved Arcade
Front Including Interlocking Flowerheads, Reeded Arches,
Reeded Stiles And Chequered Inlay Decoration
(It is rare to find something this early in such great condition.
Clearly the piece, which is around 400 years old, was built to
stand the test of time and the arcaded front is great evidence
of the quality and care that has been put into the making of it.
A personal favourite of ours it really is quite delightful and its
difficult to do the elegance of it justice through photographs. It
is of course also most practical and functional with a whole heap
of storage space available underneath the hinged lid)
