A superb William and Mary oyster veneered and marquetry inlaid chest of drawers; the chest's top inlaid to the centre with an oval marquetry panel of foliage issuing out of a grotesque mask with further marquetry panels to each quadrant and crossbanded in olive wood oyster veneers; the chest's two short and three long graduated drawers inlaid with further marquetry panels on an olive wood oyster veneered ground and with oyster veneered ends crossbanded in olivewood. The chest's handles and bun feet replaced.

Circa 1690

This oyster veneered chest of drawers was purchased from a retired dealer's collection. Amazingly the extensive marquetry inlay retains much of its original colouring and detailing and the oyster veneers retain a superb patination especially on the ends.
