This very fine case is of typical form with an oval top, with hinged cover, to house the handles and a tapering lower section for the blades, which terminates in a ball finial. This piece has a steel lock mechanism, which is opened when the circular release button is pushed in.
The case is in quite excellent condition and has its original suspensory ring. Although this piece is unmarked, it was almost certainly made in London circa 1690.
