Stock No. 1378.

Thomas Culleton was one of the early promoters of crest collecting in the early 1860s, having his offices in 25 Cranbourn Street, London WC.

As well as painting coats of arms and producing crested stationery, he created a range of crests, such as those used by the Army and Navy, the monograms and arms of the Royal Family and the French Emperor and nobility, the arms of every Duke and Marquis and every college in Oxford and Cambridge universities.

In the 1890s, he began to strike medals, offer genealogical research, published his Culleton’s Book of Family Crest and Mottoes and produced presentation addresses each of which contributed to the company’s success.

The business was taken over by his son, Leo, in 1887 and continued to flourish well into the 20th century.
