Sam Morse-Brown was predominantly recognised for his portraits, but he also painted numerous landscapes that document the extensive travelling he did throughout his remarkable life.
These paintings epitomize the countries and periods in which they were executed and bring a real sense of place to the viewer, conveying Morse-Brown's ideal of 'imprisoned splendour' that he strove to capture in his portraits.
