A very fine Tartan pattern Vinaigrette made in Birmingham in 1840 by Nathaniel Mills.

The Vinaigrette is broad rectangular in form and is engraved all over with tartan pattern designs.

This example displays a vacant shield shaped cartouche on the cover and a cast serpentine shaped thumbpiece.

The interior is finely gilded and the grille is pierced and engraved with pluming scrolls and flower heads.
