An unusual Vinaigrette made in Birmingham in 1848 by Francis Clarke.

The Vinaigrette is modelled in an unusual shaped rectangular form. The cover is engraved with an outer border of feathery scrolls enclosing a panel of various horizontal bands of engine turning.

The centre displays a vacant oval shaped cartouche. The base displays the same engraving as shown on the cover around a central flower head. The sides are decorated with engine turned trellis work and a protruding cast floral thumb piece.

The interior displays exceptional gilding and a grille pierced and engraved with pluming scrolls and flowerheads. Both the cover and base are very well marked.
