An unusual Victorian freestanding oval satinwood desk, the leather-inset top supporting a shaped open shelf with an ormolu gallery above two pairs of small drawers with a bookshelf between, flanked by slender turned columns, the frieze with a central drawer, decorated with ormolu borders and edging, all raised upon stop-fluted, tapering and turned legs terminating in the original brass castors. English, circa 1870.
