A Fine and Rare Theodor Fahrner Art Deco Period Necklace.
Formed as a row of Square shape plaques each decorated with a repeating bold abstract design in coral red and black lacquer.
The back section formed as a series of oblong shape links with triangular black lacquer decoration, with the original box snap clasp.
The firm of Theodor Fahrner (1859-1919) were established in Pforzheim, Germany which was a centre for the production of Jewellery.
The style of work by Fahrner is quite distinct often employing brightly coloured enamels combined with facetted semi precious stones and marcasite, also a more traditional highly decorated style employing floral and naturalist inspired designs.
For a short period during the early 1930s a much more moderniste aesthetic was introduced and the current piece belongs to this era.
German, circa 1930s.
