A very fine antique tabriz carpet with soft wool and a classical Persian design typical of fine carpets woven in the city of Tabriz. Due to the age of this carpet (woven around 1880-1890) the dyes have faded beautifully and are subtle colours easy to live with and furnish around.
These carpets always look wonderful in a drawing room or in a dining room, please view our portfolio to gain some inspiration.
The condition for its age is extremely good indeed, generally the pile is high with only some small areas of lower pile and minimal wear. Please do see the additional pictures for close ups of the colours and condition.
Tabriz carpets from Northwest Persia are distinguished by their excellent weave and by their remarkable adherence to the classical traditions of Persian rug design, but they cannot be distinguished by any particular pattern or by their coloration.
Tabriz rugs offer classical medallion designs and a host of all over patterns as well in every colour imaginable, from brilliant rich tones to soft pastels.
