THESE MAGNIFICENTLY CARVED SEATED LIONS EACH RESTING ON A BALL HAVE A VERY IMPRESSIVE PRESENCE. ORIGINALLY POLYCHROMED WITH TRACES REMAINING TO THE MOUTH AND EYES. THE MANES ARE BEAUTIFULLY CARVED AS ARE THE SWIRLING TAILS. CARVED COMPLETELY IN THE ROUND AS TO BE ADMIRED FROM ANY ANGLE. FANTASTIC COLOUR AND PATINATION. EVIDENCE OF FIXING HOLES TO THE UNDERSIDE, POSSIBLY FROM A HUGE STAIRCASE STRUCTURE IN A GRAND HALL/MANOR.
