A silver Royal Navy racing cup presented by H.M.S. Curaçaothe spherical bowl with two square section handles, all raised on a knopped stem, inscribed on one side ‘Second Light Cruiser Squadron All Comers Cup, Presented by the Officers of the Flagship H.M.S. Curaçao, 1923’ and the other with a list of winners from Curaçao in 1923 to Ark Royal in 1952.  Assay stamped for Page, Keen & Page, London, 1923.  English.

Footnote: This cup may well have been presented for a series of football matches between Royal Navy ships’ crews.  An article from the Hampshire Telegraph of 2nd November 1923 refers to the final (football) match in the Inter-Port Cup in Campbeltown between the Curaçaoand the M.T.Q.D. which the former won 4-2.  Other series mentioned include the Western Province Mid-Week League in Africa, the Ohlsson  and Thurston Cups and the Royal Navy versus the Army match in Gibraltar in aid of the Trafalgar Orphans fund
