Silver Pair Cased English Ruby Cylinder.

Depth: 13 mm.

An early 19th Century English ruby cylinder in silver pair cases.  Full plate fire gilt movement with signed gilt dust cover pierced for the endstone and regulator.  Pierced and engraved cock, diamond endstone in a blue steel setting.  Engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc.  

Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring.  Ruby cylinder, large brass steel escape wheel, pivots with endstones.  White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel seconds hand, gilt hands. Matching silver pair cases, round silver pendant and bow, maker’s mark “WB” over “CH”.

In excellent overall condition.  A good example of an English ruby cylinder which are uncommon, mostly in gold cases.  Casemakers William Bush and Charles Hazle of Bowling Green Lane, Clerkenwell.
