An early 19th Century Massey type five lever in a silver open face case. Full plate gilt keywind fusee movement with gilt dust cover. Harrison’s maintaining power. Chased and engraved cock with diamond endstone, a representation of an eagle on the table, marked “Detached” on the foot. Plain three arm steel balance with blue steel spiral hairspring, blue steel Bosley regulator. Massey type five lever escapement, large screwed in jewelling.
Off white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Purpose made silver open face case hallmarked London 1865. Faded engine turned back, ribbed middle, the inner dome engraved “James Dick – 1867”. Lateral blue steel stop lever, maker’s mark “R.O” and number corresponding to that on the movement.
