The BADA Christmas Gift ListA fine bronze model of a scops owl cast by Franz Bergmann (1861-1936), set with bright coloured glass eyes and finished in a bronze coloured translucent lacquer; presented on a naturalistically carved rocky base. Marked beneath the tail with the foundry stamp of a 'B' within a two-handled vase and the design's registration number.
The work produced by Bergmann at his new Vienna foundry, opened in 1900, is recognized as being of the highest order and those models mounted onto stone bases were always finished to the highest standard.
