England, modern.
An art pottery terracotta vase, with four decorative handles, made using a traditional French technique from the Puisaye region, known as salt glazing or soda glazing. Now converted as a lamp.
After two days of stoking the wood fired kiln, when the final temperature is reached, a solution of washing soda (sodium carbonate) is sprayed into the kiln, where it vapourises and is carried onto the pots by the wood flame passing through the ware.
Height of vase 28.50cm
Height with shade 53.50cm
Diameter of base 13.00cm
Open Monday-Friday 10-6; Saturday 10-2; other times by appointment only
