A period Neoclassical stucco figure in the manner of Humphrey Hopper; the female figure of a Greek muse clothed in classical robes and with her right arm outstretched originally to hold a lamp.
Circa: 1820.
Humphrey Hopper (1765-1844) trained as a mason and then as a sculptor at the Royal Academy schools. Hopper exhibited at the Royal Academy and carved the monument to Major General Hay in St. Paul's Cathedral A. He later developed a collection of plaster figures designed to hold lamps in architectural niches.
