A Regency mahogany end support library table, the rectangular top extensively inset in tooled leather above a frieze with drawers opening on all four sides, the solid rectangular supports with bold scrolling corbels and joined by a turned, tapering stretcher. English, circa 1810.
Footnote: The shape and style of this table were popular Gillow’s and the page (illustrated) from the Gillow’s ‘Estimate Sketch-book’, now in the Westminster City Archive, shows the design for a very similar piece. The deeply carved corbels, the details on the scrolls and the reeding to the stretcher are all typical features.
