A fine Regency mahogany mantel timepiece with white enamel dial signed Recordon with arabic numerals. The eight day fusee movement with signed pendulum. The flame mahogany case with ebony edge lined corners standing on bun feet.

Louis Recordon was a Swiss born clock and watchmaker, his workshop was in Greek Street, Soho. He was the London agent for Abraham-Louis Breguet, the famous Paris based watchmaker. In 1805 Recordon took over the workshop from the watchmaker Josiah Emery, one of the first to use the lever escapement after Thomas Mudge, many of his watches and clocks are signed Recordon late Emery.
The Royal Collection has a watch by Recordon that belonged to George III.
