A Rare Pair of Pink Paris Porcelain Vases.
The rare pink colour made popular in the 1870s and favoured by the Empress Eugenie, with delicate two-tone gilding, both vases of ovoid baluster shape, on a shaped foot, with floral motifs depicting roses, purple bellfowers and foliage with delicate realism. Both signed by the artist P. Hartwig, with one dated 1876, keeping their original character and condition.
French, one dated 1876.
Signed examples by the Paris porcelain painter Hartwig are exceedingly rare, with the present pair being the largest and finest recorded example by the artist.
