A Rare Henry VIII Oak Plank Chest. English. Circa 1530.
This fine Tudor oak chest has a single piece lid with a moulded carved edge, the front is deeply carved with two lozenges with a central flower and flanked by deep leaf and bud carvings. The lock plate with carved decoration below. The hinges are old probably 18th century replacements.
Wonderful colour and patination.
