This interesting creamware jug is decorated in polychrome with a charming rural scene and bears the inscription JEREMIAH 1786. On the base it has a paper label with old script reading "This jug is very rare. JG was land agent to the 2nd Earl Talbot of Ingestre Hall. He died in 1845 and in 1847 a stained glass window was placed in Sandon Church as a memorial & repsect in which he was held. William J. Bowers." Ginder is recorded as living at Little Ingestre in Staffordshire. It is likely that the jug was made locally.
