Porcupine Quill Work Box.
A fine, early sewing box decorated with pale porcupine quills on a sandalwood structure edged with engraved and lac-filled ivory bands.
The lid is lifted by a knob of carved buffalo horn in the form of a pomegranate, the swing handle, also from buffalo, is reeded.
