This is an iconic Pop Art work straight out of the 1960's with a strong 60's feel to it and bright, vivid use of colours and imagery.

Pierre Jourda was born in 1931 in Montesquieu-Volvestre in the Haute-Garonne. The son of a mason, he was a gifted student and was, at 15, accepted to the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Toulouse. After this he studied modern art at the Sorbonne and was influenced by the likes of Van Gogh, Cezanne and in particular Fernand Leger. He devotes his life to teaching art and taught at several locations.

His collages began in the late 1950s and he begins to number all of his works, 0 being a self portrait in black and white. He would become devoted to the events of May 1968 and only really starts producing art again in the early 80’s.
