This contemporary Persian Sultanabad carpet, or "Ziegler" carpet, as they are also known as, has been made in the tradition of the original 19th-century Sultanabad carpets.
It has a palette of very pale, soft colours and a relatively open field with a generous design of leaves and florals. Both these features are what made these carpets so desirable to the European market in the 19th century, and it is these characteristics which still make them sought after by private individuals and interior designers alike.
The quality of the wool and dyes, all derived from natural dye stuffs, is excellent.
This is an elegant, understated room-size carpet at a reasonable price.
