Pair of George III period mahogany side-chairs in the Hepplewhite manner with channelled arched backs and finely-carved openwork splats decorated with a central urn, drapery, oval paterae, floral trails and a pine-cone cresting. The bowed seats with show-wood aprons and tapered and fluted front legs. The construction of these chairs exhibits a number of distinctive and unusual details which indicate that they are the work of a highly skilled chair-maker.
