Pair of Chinese conical-shaped wine cups, Kangxi (1662-1722), standing on ribbed stems with spreading feet, the cups decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with an assortment of the ‘hundred antiques’, including archaic bronze-form censers and vases, weiqi boards, precious babao and artemisia leaves, peacock feathers, coral and scrolls below a diaper band to the rims, the top section of the stems with a café-au-lait ground, the feet with floral sprays and band of scrolls.

Height: 14.5 cm. (5 3/4 in.) and 14.3cm. (5 5/8in.)

Condition: Good.

Notes: The hundred antiques are a collection of symbolic items combining scholarly objects with auspicious Buddhist emblems. The motif became popular in ceramic and textile design from the beginning of the Kangxi period due to its connotations with the gentleman collector, good taste and learning.
