A pair of early Nineteenth Century cast iron sculptures of a lion crushing a serpent; the lion portrayed with bared teeth and a wonderful flowing main is crushing the serpent under his right paw, raised on a beautifully figured portoro marble plinth.
The lion crushing the serpent is an allegorical reference to good overcoming evil.
