Painted Satinwood Table.
An Edwardian satinwood occasional table with a circular top painted with a central classical musical trophy and ribbon-tied foliate swags and bellflower chains on four slender outsplayed legs joined by stretchers. The so called Sheraton Revival period in English furniture began about 1880 and faded away in the 1920`s. Using the more classical shapes in construction, artists decorated the furniture with what can only be called `pretty, pretty` scenes almost as an antidote to the more grief stricken painting of the high Victorian period.
