Northern Italy, probably Genoa | Circa 1680. 

A rare survivor  from the 17th Century.

 

The cabinet with a double squared-arch top above a pair of mirrored doors with an interior arrangement of drawers and pigeon holes, a wide candle slide under, above a bureau fall with book rest enclosing a stepped interior of seven drawers and four pigeon holes, two short drawers over two long drawers below, raised on square tapered legs joined by a shaped x-stretcher and bun feet. 

 

The cabinet decorated entirely in a deep cream ground with dark green over painting of shaped panels entwined with vine branches and bold acanthus leaves. The interior to both the top and the bureau also decorated in a deep cream.

 

Paintwork refreshed and restored.
