Oak Pew End Poppy Head Finial, Probably 17th Century.

Of typical form, inset within a later oak collar.

Condition report

The finial is the surmount from a pew end, sawn at the stem. It is evident from the associated collar that it was later secured before being detatched. The visible core to the underside bears signs of deteriation of the timber. However the finial remains in good order with a pleasing rich patina.
