Mid 17th Century Italian Terracotta Bozzetto.
A well executed terracotta bozzetto depicting the Virgin, Italy, Rome, circa 1650-1670.
The Mother carrying baby Jesus in her left arm and holding the infant St.John with her right hand.
The harmonious and well proportioned composition, purely baroque, suggests it may be the work of a Tuscan or Roman sculptor.
Beautiful patina.
Height 31 cm, width 15 cm, the base 12 x 10 cm.
Condition: perfect, no damages, no restoration:
Three small holes, two on the base and one at the back, from thermoluminescence test commissioned by the previous owner.
