Meissen soup plate.
Circa 1740.
Decorated in the centre with a flying crane, dragon and insect. The rim with insects and floral sprays.
The scalloped rim with the Sulkowski Ozier pattern moulded border, with blue cross swords mark to base.
Provenance: from the Nyffeler Collection, collection label to base (Christie's, 9 June 1986, Lot 136).
The decoration of this plate is often found on pieces with a basketwork border.
Pieces with this decoration can be found in a number of Collections including the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin, the Porzellansammlung Dresden, and the Museum für Angewandte Kunst Köln.
