Rome 19th Century.
The recumbent naked female depicted as the Greek goddess of wine lying on a bedsheet with a cymbal and a serpent wrapped around her forearm. Her head is festooned with fruiting vines.
Measurements length 23 ½” (60 cm) depth 10 ½” (27 cm) height 16” (41 cm).

The collection of John Kenworthy-Browne who is a leading authority on the work of Lorenzo Bartolini.
Bartolini (1777-1850) became the leading Italian neo-classical sculptor after the death of Canova. He drew his inspiration from the Florentine Renaissance and brought a sentimental piety and naturalistic detail to his interpretation of Classical sculpture.
