Pierre Garnier, maître in 1742Garnier was one of the most distinguished cabinetmakers of the 18th Century. He had numerous important clients including the Duchesse de Mazarin, but his most loyal and important patron was the Marquis de Marigny, brother of Madame de Pompadour and Directeur General des Batiments, Jardins, Arts, Acadamies et Manafacures du Roi.
His work can be seen in most of the major Mueums in the world including
Muse des Arts Decoratifs, Carnavalet, Jacquemart-Andre, The Louvre, Nissim-de-Camondo in Paris, The Victoria and Albert Museum and The Wallace collection in London, The Huntington in America and the Gulbenkian in Portugal.
