Antique Kazak rug, 'star design,' woven in the Caucasus's in the mid to late 19th Century. The condition is very good and with the early yellow saffron dye makes for a beautiful caucasian rug. The wool is extremely soft with good rug underlay it would sit happily on a wood or carpeted floor. Rugs bearing this name come from the highland area of the Caucasus whose centre is the town of Kazak.
