Japanese Imari charger, Genroku (1688 –1704).

Well painted in underglaze blue and coloured enamels.

The central roundel with flowering peony issuing from rockwork, with butterfly and traditional sudare blinds flapping in the breeze.

The wide rim with four panels containing dragons and phoenix amongst prunus and scrolling clouds. Interspersed with underglaze blue karakusa scrollwork. The reverse with pontil marks.
