Italian maiolica Castelli plate.
Mid 18th century.
Ddecorated in polychrome with two pastoral figures beyond a stream in a classical Italian landscape, all within ochre rims.
The landscape is painted in the style of French engraver Gabriel Perelle (1604-1677).
Prints were commonly used as sources of design in the Castelli workshops, and were sometimes pricked for direct transfer.
