The BADA Christmas Gift ListAntique Indo-Persian Kalamkari of a highly unusual small size.
This painted and block printed textile follows the classic format of an architectural structure around a field design ending in a Mihrab. This is surrounded in the corners by a beautiful pair of opposing birds, most likely peacocks, each facing away form the centre. A repeat of small and larger botehs decorates the field on a red ground.
Chintzed cotton, hemmed in with blue silk; cotton backing.
The textile is in excellent condition.
