An important pair of George II Style Heraldic Wall Sconces made in London in 1929 by Richard Comyns.
The back plate of each sconce is decorated in the George II manner with acanthus foliage, scrolls, corded and beaded bands, surrounding a vacant central cartouche.
This is all surmounted by the Coronet of an Earl. The reverse of the back plate displays a key shaped hole for hanging. The detachable scroll sconce is cast and is also decorated with acanthus foliage.
The cast circular drip pan is decorated on the underside with lobing, the upper side of the pan is plain in design, as is the baluster candle socket.
Each piece is in excellent condition and fully marked on the back plate and branch.
Wall sconces, made from silver, are exceptionally rare from any period, however to find a pair of Armorial sockets is very unusual indeed.
