A rare all over design small size antique Heriz carpet, woven around 1890-1900 in brilliant pile and condition.  Finding these 9 x 6 feet approx size rugs from the Heriz region are increasingly difficult, as this was a size rarely woven and always sought after.  Wonderful rich colours using varying reds and clearly defined 'Abrash' across the centre of the carpet.  This term 'Abrash' is referring to dye change, these tribal carpets and rugs will more than often have it and this obvious change in colour is down to different batches of dye.  Over 100 years the dyes oxidise and change differently from one and another, hence you see this unique characteristic.  Soft blues and greens in the floral design complete this exceptional small tribal carpet.

We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire & the UK by appointment. Please request a home visit to use our no obligation service to view this beautiful rare size antique Heriz carpet in your own home.  We have been travelling all over the UK & Europe showing carpets in situ helping interior designers and customers alike for over 25 years.

Heriz carpets have always been regarded as beautiful, tough objects of decoration, made in the north-west of Persia these handwoven works of art always have variations from one piece to another. Some draw influences from further north into the Caucasus and vivid colours like this particular carpet.  A decorative yet practical carpet which has been used for over 100 years and has already stood the test of time.
