John Miller was a landscape painter in oil and watercolour. He was born in Glasgow and studied at the Glasgow School of Art under W.O. Hutchison in 1936 and at Hospitalfield Art College in Arbroath under James Cowie in 1938.
John joined the staff at the Glasgow School of Art in 1944 and remained there until his death. He painted landscapes and coastal scenes and painted on the Clyde. He also painted glowing still lifes and flowering pieces.
