A good Victorian gallery easel made by Collier & Plucknett 'cabinet makers and upholsterers' of Warwick & Leamington.

With a small adjustable support above a larger shelf that doubles as a housing for brushes, in turn fixed by large brass wing nuts that allow for repositioning up or down the front legs of the easel.

Almost 28 inches cross the legs at the floor x 18.75 inches wide at the top. 72.5 inches total height.

The lowest setting for the brush shelf is 23.5 inches high. The smaller support has a lowest supporting edge at 38 inches from the floor.

English circa 1870.

James Plucknett formed a partnership with Frederick Collier in the 1860s and maintained a showroom in Leamington Spa with workshops in Warwick where Ambrose Heal was an apprentice. Accepting commissions from clients across the country and from families local to Warwickshire today they are today most recognized for the furniture they made for one William Gibbs and his country house, now National Trust; Tyntesfield. Of particular note is the bathroom furnished for the lady of the house; Matilda Blanche Gibbs.
