Gilt Metal and Porcelain Watch Decoration.
A large late 19th Century toy or decoration in the form of a watch. Hinged circular gilt metal frame set with two convex porcelain covers. The front with a representation of a watch dial, the numeral in cartouches at the edge.
White centre with polychrome floral decoration. The back gilt in colour with a raised geometric pattern. The inner faces white, again with polychrome floral decoration. Tapered gilt metal pendant with fixed bow.
Circa 1890.
A rare and attractive piece. Apparently originally sold as a Christmas tree decoration.
