George II mahogany tripod table.
This is a fabulous example of an outstanding mahogany tripod base table. Having a circular top of great colour, a warm caramel colour. The one piece top rotates and has a finely hand-carved egg-and-dart design edge.
Carved edged tables like this example are extremely rare, and hard to find which are original. Below the top is the birdcage mechanism. This allows the top to rotate. The lower section is the turned and carved fluted baluster stem, with acanthus leaf decoration on the knees of the three legs, which all terminate on lion paw feet.
English circa 1755
