.George II Centre table
An impressive George II walnut and marble topped centre table. The inset rectangular Siena Brocatelle marble top enclosed a gadrooned edge above a rocaille and curled leaf frieze, on four acanthus leaf carved cabriole legs with ball and claw feet.
Inventory label under frieze 'T120'. A/f A large slab of slate attached to the underside of the marble. All of the marble repairs have been filled and polished.
In the very informative reference book on Irish furniture 'The Knight of Glin and James Peill, note on page 229 item 98 you will see two images showing something very similar regarding this fine carving.
Possibly Irish.
