George I Burr Walnut Kneehole Dressing Table.

The quartered veneered burr walnut top with herringbone stringing walnut cross banding and a ogee moulded and cross grained edge. A substantial long drawer sits above a recessed central door enclosing a cupboard with a single shelf and flanked by three short drawers to either side. The plinth is capped by further cross grained and ogee moulding leading to shaped bracket feet. All the drawers are herringbone banded and cock beaded.
This superior piece with its choice burr and oak lined and domed drawers displays superior craftsmanship. The metalwork is original save the handles on the long drawer which appear to have been realigned and possibly remade. The unusually substantial long drawer is useful for the storage of cosmetic accoutrements.
